The Manor Inn in Rilla Mill is a little over a mile from Jupiter Lodge. This is a friendly pub serving good pub food. It is generally best to book a table at weekends. It is an easy walk from the lodge along a minor lane to Rilla Mill. We always have a walk down there when we are staying at the lodge!
The Caradon Inn is a similar distance in a different direction but not really walkable as the road is a little busier and there is no pavement – it is however an easy drive. It is opposite the Sterts Theatre in Upton Cross. Again, it is a friendly pub serving very good food on Fridays and Saturdays. As food is not served every day so best to check opening times.
The pub also has a village shop which can be very useful.
The Racehorse Inn has now been reopened and renamed as The Old School Inn in the village of North Hill which is some 2.5 miles from the lodge. Might be worth a visit.
The Crows Nest Inn in the little village of Crows Nest is 4.4 miles from the lodge. We have enjoyed some good meals there!
The Wheal Tor Hotel and Restaurant is 3.2 miles from the lodge near the village of Pensilva up on the moor. We think it is more expensive but we have never been there so cannot comment.
There are of course good restaurants and pubs in Liskeard and Launceston being towns, but personally we like the country pubs!
