The more dramatic North Coast with its towering cliffs is of a similar distance. Two public houses serving good food are within 1.5 miles, The Manor Inn at Rilla Mill and The Caradon at Upton Cross. It is close to open moorland and the village of Minions, situated at the foot of Caradon Hill, a World Heritage site where moorland horses roam freely. The moor landscape is scattered with the remains of the old engine houses from the mining era providing a mysterious reminder of the local mining heritage (“Poldark country”).
